Polyurethane

POLYURETHANE

Professor Otto Bayer discovered polyurethane in the 1930s while looking for a replacement for natural rubber during World War II. However, he discovered more than he had hoped for – polyurethane. It then turned out to be one of the most important compounds in almost everything around us today; a product that is far more than a natural rubber substitute. He was dubbed the “Father of Polyurethane Engineering” as a result of his discovery. Polyurethane is now available in a variety of forms, making it suitable for a wide range of applications due to its ability to substitute a variety of materials that are either scarce or expensive.

We collaborate with our customers to create new and improved end-to-end solutions. We can tailor polyurethane moldings to meet the specific requirements for the product’s end use based on our design and experience working with polyurethane chemistry.

Our goal is for all of our Industrial Parts customers to benefit from improved product performance, reduced downtime, lower costs, and, ultimately, increased productivity. The inherent properties of polyurethane, combined with our specialist knowledge, provide a plethora of solutions, such as higher abrasion and tear resistance, lower flex fatigue, high compressive and tensile strength, and high compressive and tensile strength. These features and benefits can be combined with high chemical resistance and product weight savings as needed, resulting in more reliable uptime of your manufacturing equipment.

Some of the industrial products include polyurethane rollers, and pulleys; buffers pads, springs and shock absorbers; wear plates; milling & grinding vessels and canister lining; sheet, blocks, rods, tubes, tires, Wheels, Casters Rollers, Conveyors, Chute, Conveyor Liners & Skirting, Cable Carriers Scrapers Snow Plow Blades & Cutting Edges Seals And Gaskets, Liners, Pumps, Impellers, Bushings, Screen Decks Bumpers, Dampeners.

Offshore Marine Construction

To meet the ever-increasing demand for oil and gas exploration, offshore marine construction is required. This entails keeping up with demand for oil and gas extraction, transportation, and processing. Before the exploration can begin, the offshore platforms must be built. Offshore rig support systems must be in place to ensure the smooth flow of materials from the rigs to the vessels. Polyurethane has long been the preferred material for various oil and gas operations, as well as the offshore construction industry.

All oil and gas explorations necessitate the use of long pipes to transport oil and gas from the sea floor. Pipe laying vessels with heavy load carrying lifts handle these long and heavy pipes. These lifts are outfitted with heavy duty polyurethane roller cradles for the easy and safe transportation of heavy pipes from on-shore locations to cargo vessels and then to pipe laying vessels.

The pipes are fabricated by being beveled, welded together, and blasted before being coated to protect them from the ruggers of sea bed conditions. 100% solids rigid or structural polyurethane coating on pipes (inside and outside) is a preferred choice on all three pipe substrates: steel, ductile iron, and concrete because it has excellent flexibility, elongation, impact and abrasion resistance, and is anti-corrosive and anti-microbial resistant.

Mining and Crusher Industries

Mining and aggregate equipment must withstand some of the harshest working conditions. High wear and tear, as well as harsh environmental conditions, can have a significant impact on the performance of the equipment. When equipment fails, it can halt production; maintenance can take days or even weeks in remote areas, resulting in significant downtime costs. Due to the abrasive nature of mining materials, materials such as rubber and steel are damaged- polyurethane comes in as a viable option as it can withstand tough working conditions and comes out as a winner against conditions where it is exposed to severe impact, puncture, cutting, tearing, and abrasion. The material can also change shape under high loads and then return to its original shape once the load is removed.

Polyurethane is increasingly being used in a variety of mining applications due to its high property portfolio, such as impact- and abrasion-resistant plates, blasting curtains and screens, conveyor liners/ skirting’s, haul truck bed liners, and off-road tire sidewall protectors for various vehicles, sheet, scraper blades and wear pads; screening and grading mats; covers, tubes and rods; pulleys rollers and cable guides; star wheels. Primary and secondary conveyor scrapers, conveyor rollers, chute and hopper liners, and covers are all available.

Metal Forming, Tooling & Equipment’s

Polyurethane’s mechanical properties enable it to have high resilience, toughness, and load bearing capacity. These properties can be precisely controlled by varying the polyurethane ingredient mixtures. Polyurethane is also resistant to mechanical fatigue, shear, corrosion, impact, and mold contamination.

Polyurethane has several advantages, including non-compressibility, resiliency, and the ability to form and hold metal without tarnishing its surface finish. It behaves similarly to a solid fluid with memory; under force, it changes shape but retains its volume. Under load, polyurethane produces a high, uniform, and continuous counter pressure. When the load is removed, the structure quickly returns to its original shape.

Strip and sheet, bending pads and blocks, wear pads, rods, tubes, and protective covers, springs, strippers, forming Bars, V- Dies, sand & grit blast shield are some examples of polyurethane products used in the metal forming industry.

Oil & Gas Industry

Few materials can compete with polyurethane in terms of durability and cost effectiveness in the oil and gas industry. The product has a high service demand because everything from crude extraction to gas compression to refining is hard on components and tools. Because components must be replaced on a regular basis due to heavy wear and tear, polyurethane is the best replacement material. For a variety of reasons, polyurethane is a popular material for oil and gas operations.

Printing Industries

In the printing industry, Ismat has produced a number of polyurethane products. When compared to rubber compounds, our custom-formulated compounds have superior properties. Fine surface finishes and very tight tolerances are also possible with our specialized machining. We have in-house welding and machining capabilities for the substrates to which we cast. Across our product line, our products have high abrasion and chemical resistance, as well as superior cut resistance.

Paper & Corrugated Industries

Precision Urethane has a variety of applications in the production and packaging of cardboard, plastic, and paper. Customers can rely on our products for demanding applications such as oil and solvent resistance or antistatic applications. We can engineer specific cast geometries that will not scuff, mar, or damage the end product while maintaining the proper coefficient of friction to drive a variety of substrates thanks to our in-house machining facility. Paper and board industries for polyurethane washers, bosses, and suckers; creasers; anvil covers, including split anvils; soft touch and non-crush wheels; shock absorbers, strippers, and springs; blocks; rods, strips, blocks, and cutting sticks; feed wheels and rollers and squeegee blades, Rotary Die Blankets Zero Crush Rollers. Printing Rolls and Templates are protected by an anvil.

Custom Molded Polyurethane Products

Polyurethane can be compounded and fabricated into nearly any shape or size while still retaining the properties required for a specific application. Products can be manufactured from existing samples with minimal effort by using the same sample to prototype the product. However, if necessary, our engineering department can custom design the product and fabricate it based on the client’s drawings or samples.

Because mold costs are usually low, producing smaller quantities is more cost effective.

Seals, O-rings, Hoses, Liners, Valves, Nozzles, Rollers, Tubes, Pads, Bushings, and Scrapers are some of the most common polyurethane components.

Material Handling

Our product line includes conveyor line rollers and custom material handling machinery. Our in-house machining and fabrication capabilities enable us to meet deadlines while maintaining tight tolerances through post-machining operations.
