Rubber O-Rings
An O-Ring is a torus, or doughnut-shaped ring, that is typically made of elastomers. An O-Ring is a rubber ring with a circular cross-section.
The cutting edge is a “O” shape, which is the most common, classic, cost-effective, and useful sealing type in both dynamic and static applications. It is necessary to understand the fundamental concept of an O-Ring.

- The O-Ring dimension formula is straightforward: OD = ID + 2*CS.
- The popular O-Ring standards are determined by the location and country of manufacture.
- The O-Ring tolerance has a limit; when the size is out of tolerance, failure will result in leakage.
- O-rings are made of elastomers that have enough resilience or memory to return to their original shape after a significant or minor distortion.
Application & Usage
There are two kinds of O-Ring applications. There are two types of applications: static and dynamic.
Static Application: In this application, the O-Ring is fitted between two non-moving/static parts, ensuring that the O-Ring remains static during assembly.
Dynamic Application: In this case, the O-Ring is fitted between two moving/dynamic parts so that the O-Ring faces the dynamic gland movement.253B57

Rubber Oil Seals
Description
An oil seal is typically made up of three basic components:
Metal Case, Spring, and Sealing Element. It is a common sealing component. A seal’s function is to prevent medium leakage along moving parts. The Sealing Element is primarily responsible for this.
Nitrile (Buna-N), Acrylic, Silicon, and Fluorinated Rubber are common materials used (FKM – Viton)
